NORWEGIAN STAR was intended for service with Star Cruises but following the acquisition of NCL and a review of tonnage deployment it was decided that the ship and her sister would be deployed with NCL.
Built in 2001, it is the first in the Dawn-class, with sister ship Norwegian Dawn. There are 1174 staterooms on board with the largest being the 2-bedroom Garden Villa.
During a major dry dock in 2010 new Family Suites and Interior cabins were added to deck 12. Moderno, OSheehans and LaCucina were added. Spinnaker lounge was relocated to the aft of deck 7.
During March 2015 drydock the bar on deck 7 was changed to Five Oclock Somewhere Bar. OSheehans Pub was added to deck 8. Sugarcane Mojito Bar was added to deck 13.
During May 2018 drydock Bier Garten bar on deck 14 was renamed Sky High Bar; The Kid splash area on aft of deck 12 was removed and transformed into a adult only area called Spice H2O - However this Spice H2O is a scaled down version of the same venue found on larger ships; Planet Kids on deck 13 was renamed to Splash Academy; The waterslides on the pool deck were removed.

The Sky High Bar-outdoor bar & lounge with seating for nearly 120 people.
Nightly entertainment can be found at many venues including the Stardust Theater, which has 2 shows nightly. There is also a champagne bar, casino, Bliss Ultra lounge, and a few other various bars and lounges.
Kids can enjoy the kids club and wet and wild water park, and teens have their own Teen Club & Disco, as well as a video games arcade. Adults can enjoy the Spa & Fitness Center which offers steam room, sauna, pool, 5 whirlpools, and gym with aerobics studio. There is also a private area called Spice H20 which has a private pool, full bar, and hot tubs. Other activities include a sports court, golf-driving net, table tennis, and jogging track.
