During 2015 drydock, the Explorer of the Seas had a complete refit of the pool deck, addition of FlowRider, 24 new panoramic staterooms, conversion of 80 inside cabins to virtual balconies, new outdoor movie screen, new flat screen televisions in the staterooms, new restaurants (Chops Grille, Giovannis Table, Izumi), a refit of the main dining room, replace Champagne Bar with R-Bar.
During a drydock in March 2023 the Perfect Storm waterslides were added to Deck 13.

During the day, children and teens have plenty to do with the outdoor pools and sun-areas, dual-racing waterslides, Flow rider, Rock-climbing wall, Golf Course, Sports Court, Video game arcade, and their very own age appropriate lounges and clubs with scheduled activities. Adults also have their very own Solarium area and lounge, or they can head to the Spa and Fitness Center.
Nightly entertainment for all ages can be found at The Palace Theatre, which has a wide-array of productions throughout the voyage. The lounges on board offer various musical performances and dancing. Also, the Studio B Ice Rink hosts ice-skating shows. For a little more excitement, adults can check out the Chamber Disco and Nightclub or the Casino Royale.
