The ship last drydock was in Oct 2022.

Most modern cruise ships need to be dry docked for inspection, maintenance and class surveys every five years and once they reach 15 years of age they need to be dry docked at least twice within a five-year period. Dry docks typically last up to 14 days at a cost of up to $2 million per day and involve regular maintenance including hull cleaning, exterior painting of the structure, inspection of pipes, restoration of exterior deck flooring, and installation of enhanced HVAC filter systems

Maiden voyage was on April 11, 2007. This is the 8th Grand-class ship in the Princess fleet. Sister ships of similar design are the Caribbean, Crown, Grand, Golden, and Star Princess. Layout of this ship is very similar to the Crown Princess, which was released 1 year before. The atmosphere of the ship tends to be very relaxed, and most cruisers aboard dress very casually.

There are many dining options on board including some specialty options as well:
Michaelangelo Restaurant- dinner only, anytime dining, complimentary
Crown Grill- steak/seafood restaurant, complimentary
Da Vinci Restaurant- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner with anytime dining, complimentary
Botticelli Restaurant- dinner only, fixed seating times, complimentary
Share- Italian specialty restaurant, family-style, cover charge
Trident Grill & Prego Pizzeria- fast food buffet, complimentary
World Fresh Marketplace- buffet, complimentary
Steamers Seafood- buffet, complimentary

During the day, adults can enjoy The Sanctuary which is an adults-only pool and relaxation area, or they can check out the fitness center and spa. Kids and teens have plenty of activities to keep them busy with their very own teen and kids centers with organized programming, a video games arcade, pool and play area, and large outdoor LED screen.

Nightly entertainment on board can be found at many venues. The Princess Emerald Theater offers comedy acts and production shows for all ages. Live entertainment can also be found at Crooners Lounge & Bar, Explorers Lounge & Bar, Wheelhouse Bar, and The Club Fusion Lounge. There is also a casino on board.

During December 2015 drydock 100 cabins were converted to interconnecting cabins. Sabatinis became SHARE Restaurant. (But in 2021 it was converted back into Sabatinis.)

During October 2022 drydock many of the bar countertops were converted to be ADA compliant. New carpeting and décor throughout the ship.
